The Creativity
Behind Anxiety
Thesis Book
During my senior year, we were tasked with studying our thesis topic over the course of two semesters. I chose
to study generalized anxiety disorder. While doing other projects, we needed to create a thesis book containing our research a work representing our thesis. This was
the result.
The Project
I wanted my book to represent a number of things. The first being the overwhelming and unpredictable nature of anxiety. I split the book into two different halves, one being upside down to showcase feeling stuck in a void or state of panic. The first half of the book showcases thoughts from my personal diary, and rotating text to symbolize the growing sense of dread and chaos. The small inserts symbolize internal and hidden thoughts, often including those statements. Finishing it off, I decided to bind the book with a kettle stitch to make the binding feel raw and authentic.
