Brand Identity System
Challenge
I was approached by a smaller business owner looking to establish his brand. He needed a logo, one that would reflect the authenticity of his style and identity. His identity is currently aligned with being a father to his three little girls, Harper, Ryleigh and Braelynn. I needed to make a brand that showcased the “child-like” feeling, but also have a semblance of professionalism.
Solution
I came up with this concept of using shapes to create this brand. Why shapes? A child learns the basics of geometry quite young through fitting shapes through the right holes of the wooden box. So, I wanted to use that and fun colors to represent the feelings of being a kid again.
As I mentioned, I felt using shapes overlapped on top of each other would help to reflect the child-like nature of this brand. In addition, each color picked for the girls is their favorite color, making the logo that much more personalized for my client’s children.
Shapes!
The pattern is comprised of shapes pulled from the logo. The straight line comes from the H, the right triangle comes from the R, the extended semicircle comes from the B and the wider triangle comes from the W. I created this as a way to add a fun element to the stationary as well as to highlight the childlike nature of the brand.
The Pattern
To further bring the brand to life, I created a set of deliverables for my client. For this, I focused on basic stationary and apparel needs that I thought my client may pursue in the future of his brand to make it more well-rounded as a new start-up small business.
Brand in Action
In order to round out the brand identity, I wanted to create a brand book to highlight the brand’s color palette, typography, restrictions and more!
